NEW AD FEATURES MACOMB COUNTY SMALL BUSINESS OWNER CALLING OUT CONGRESSMAN JOHN JAMES FOR SUPPORTING TARIFFS THAT RAISED COSTS FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Michigan Families for Fair Care premiered a new ad on Tuesday, featuring Alex, a Macomb County small business owner, discussing how tariffs have increased costs for local businesses and consumers.

The ad, "Alex," features Alex, a small business owner from Macomb County, who explains how tariffs that Congressman John James voted to support have raised costs for local businesses like his and made everyday goods more expensive for working families. According to a report from the Joint Economic Committee - Minority, the average household in Michigan has paid $1,606 more in higher costs last year. Families and small businesses alike have had to adjust their budgets as material goods, like lumber and steel, fluctuate in price further elevating the cost of housing.

"John James has actively tied Congress's hands on the very tariffs that are making life more expensive for his constituents. Families and businesses like mine are paying extra because of tariffs across MI-10," said Alex Bronson, owner of Blackout Painting. "Failing to take action as constituents are literally knocking on your door to let you know how much they are struggling is a complete abdication of the responsibility of an elected official. Working families and their constituents are the ones paying the price, literally. Congressman James stop raising costs on Michigan families."

The ad is part of a campaign to hold Congressman John James accountable to his votes in Congress and support of policies that have made life more expensive for working class Michiganders.

ALEX:

“Owning a home or small business is what we all dream about.

But that dream is slipping away.

I own a small construction business building homes for Michigan families. But ever since the tariffs, it’s gotten harder.

John James and Republicans in Congress supported tariffs that are raising costs on nearly everything.

Especially building materials, like lumber and steel, driving up home costs. Don’t let our dreams slip away. Tell John James to stop raising costs on Michigan families.”
