Congressman John James, You Failed Michiganders

Representative John James (MI-10) has now voted twice to support the devastating cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in the Republican Tax Scam. This bill affects the health care of 70 million elderly, low-income, or disabled Americans and positions 11 million people at the brink of being uninsured. It also reduces support for critical food programs for vulnerable populations like veterans and people who are homeless. With his vote, Rep. James has sealed the fate of hundreds of thousands of Michiganders who rely on these essential programs including thousands in his district alone.

MI-10 constituent and Medicaid recipient Rebecca Zainos issued the following statement after James' final vote:

"Rep. John James has now voted twice to take away the health care of thousands of people in our district. As someone who depends on Medicaid to manage my health, I'm terrified about what comes next. Michigan hospitals are going to close, working families like mine will lose coverage, and for what? So billionaires can get another tax break? Congressman James had two chances to do the right thing, and both times he chose greed over the health and lives of his own constituents.
