ICYMI: Barrett Voted Against Health Care Affordability Measure as New Six-Figure Accountability Ad Launches
Multiple news outlets covered Congressman Tom Barrett's vote against bringing back health care subsidies and his defensive press conference responding to Michigan Families for Fair Care's accountability campaign. WLNS reported that Barrett was among the "no" votes when the U.S. House passed legislation to extend expired health care subsidies for those with Affordable Care Act coverage.
MIRS News covered Barrett's press conference attacking Michigan Families for Fair Care as we launched our newest accountability ad. Barrett held the press conference just hours before MFFC's ad launch event featuring local residents affected by his healthcare votes. MFFC spokesperson Jose Soto responded to Barrett's claims, noting that the Congressman voted for massive Medicaid cuts and no matter what he says Barrett can’t rewrite history just because his vote was politically inconvenient.
According to MIRS, the Congressional Budget Office estimates the Republican Tax Law would cut federal Medicaid spending by billions over 10 years, leaving 10 million Americans, and tens of thousands of residents in MI-07, without health insurance by 2034.
