Lansing-Area Nurse Responds to Congressman Barrett's Out-Of-Touch Tariff Claims

Congressman Tom Barrett issued a statement claiming to support Michigan workers and affordable costs of living following the Supreme Court's ruling on tariffs, but it's a blatant lie. Rep. Barrett's voting record shows that he has consistently supported tariffs that are driving up costs for Michiganders, including voting against repealing Canadian tariffs that have placed a direct burden on Michigan's small business owners and manufacturers. And when it came time to provide real affordability relief, Barrett instead voted repeatedly to protect tariffs that are making life more expensive for the families and businesses across Michigan's 7th District. 

Dewitt nurse, Ashley, issued the following statement regarding Barrett’s statement: 

"Congressman Barrett talks about making life affordable for American families, but as a nurse in the Lansing area, I see the real impact of his votes every day. Patients are already struggling to afford their medications and put food on the table. Meanwhile, our Congressman Tom Barrett voted for a law that will make life even harder for Michigan’s working class. You can't claim to stand with Michigan workers while voting to gut their healthcare, cut their food assistance, and do nothing to address the rising costs tariffs are putting on the everyday items families need. Tens of thousands of Michiganders deserve better. We urge Tom Barrett to dismantle these tariffs and back the people in his district fighting to survive."
