ICYMI: MICHIGAN FAMILIES FOR FAIR CARE'S "REAL STATE OF THE UNION" PRESS CONFERENCE
While Congressman Tom Barrett told reporters he was "looking forward to working with the president to really move the country forward," Michigan families were sounding the alarm about what that movement is actually costing them.
WLNS and WLAJ covered Michigan Families for Fair Care's virtual "Real State of the Union" press conference held Tuesday, where constituents from Michigan's 7th and 10th Congressional Districts spoke about the real impacts of Republican priorities: higher healthcare premiums, cuts to food assistance, and tariffs driving up the cost of everything.
MI-07 ER Nurse Kimberly delivered a stark warning about the long-term consequences of Rep. Barrett's legislative agenda/voting record: "What happens in healthcare and disease processes is they affect everyone. And the decisions that are being made today by this Republican plan that they have put through is not only going to affect us now, but we are definitely going to see the long-term effects and it's going to affect our children and our grandchildren."
While Barrett applauded in Washington, families across MI-07 and MI-10 are calling on him and Congressman John James to protect Medicaid, renew ACA premium tax credits, safeguard SNAP, and end the tariff policies driving up everyday costs for Michigan families.
