Michigan Families Brace for Another Gas Prices Spike as James And Huizenga Continue To Back Iran War
Michigan is bracing for another spike in gas prices as stalled negotiations with Iran and renewed strikes continue to send oil markets into turmoil. Analysts are warning drivers to fill up now before prices rise again—the result of the Iran War that Congressman John James (MI-10) and Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-04) just voted to continue, and that Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) voted for in March.
Michigan drivers will likely be paying more again soon, with one analyst saying there could still be “record-setting” prices later this summer. For families in Michigan’s 4th, 7th, and 10th Districts higher gas prices mean more financial pressure at a time when household budgets are already stretched thin. To ease the pressure, some Michigan drivers are even making more frequent gas stops to mitigate the cost of a full tank.
“Michigan families cannot afford another round of painful price increases at the pump,” said Jocelyn, a MI-10 resident and John James constituent. “Every time gas prices rise, I’m forced to make impossible choices about what I can afford, like buying less at the grocery store or driving less to save on gas. We need leaders focused on lowering costs, but, instead, our Representative John James has shown he cares more about Republican priorities in Washington than helping his constituents.”
As tensions abroad continue to create uncertainty in energy markets, Michigan Families for Fair Care is calling on Representatives James, Barrett, and Huizenga to hold the Trump administration accountable for the Iran War and push for lower costs.
