NEW $385,000 AD: CONGRESSMAN TOM BARRETT VOTED TO CUT MEDICAID AND DOUBLE HEALTH CARE COSTS FOR MICHIGAN FAMILIES
Today, Michigan Families for Fair Care launched a new six-figure TV ad buy as part of its multi-million dollar ad campaign to educate Michiganders about Representative Tom Barrett's votes to cut Medicaid and Republican support for policies that would more than double health care costs for working families across Michigan's 7th Congressional District.
The ad, Choices, highlights the impossible choices Michigan families are already making—between filling up the gas tank or feeding their families, paying the electricity bill or paying for health care—and how Barrett's votes are making those choices even harder.

"Congressman Barrett claims he wants to discuss health care costs, but his voting record tells a different story. He already voted to cut Medicaid, and now working families in the 7th district are already struggling with rising costs for gas, groceries, and utilities—they can't afford to see their health care premiums increase by hundreds of dollars every month.” said Steve Lawson, Executive Director of Michigan Families for Fair Care. “It's time for Barrett to choose people over partisan politics, stop pushing policies that increase health care costs, and work to reopen the government."
Transcript of “Choices” below:
“With our costs skyrocketing, Michigan families are making tough choices every day.
Like filling up the gas tank or the grocery cart.
Paying the electricity bill or paying for health care.
Congressman Tom Barrett already voted to cut Medicaid.
And now Republicans in Congress want to more than double our health care costs.
And shut down the government to make it happen.
Michigan families can't afford higher health care costs.
Tell Congressman Tom Barrett: choose Michiganders, not politics.
Stop increasing our health care costs and reopen the government.”
