NEW AD FEATURES MICHIGAN MOTHER CALLING OUT CONGRESSMAN BILL HUIZENGA FOR SUPPORTING MEDICAID CUTS THAT THREATEN FAMILIES ACROSS THE 4TH DISTRICT
Michigan Families for Fair Care premiered a new ad today, featuring Kim, a mother of five from Michigan’s 4th Congressional District, sharing how Congressman Bill Huizenga’s votes in Congress have put families like hers at risk of losing the Medicaid coverage they cannot afford to lose.
The ad, “Kim,” follows a mother raising five boys, one of whom requires daily medication for a serious seizure condition, and requires coverage they can only afford through Medicaid. Congressman Huizenga voted for the Republican Tax Law, which threatens the largest cuts to Medicaid in the program’s history, putting the health and stability of thousands of families across the 4th District at risk.
“I’m the mother of five boys. I’ve learned how to stay calm. But nothing prepares you for the fear of watching your child and not being sure if you’ll be able to afford his medication next month.” said Kim, a mother and resident of Michigan’s 4th Congressional District. “My son depends on Medicaid for the treatment that keeps him safe, and children across the country rely on Medicaid for their survival, but Congressman Huizenga voted to cut its funding regardless, to give tax breaks to billionaires. That’s not a tradeoff I can accept, and it’s not one families in this district should have to live with. Congressman Huizenga, stop creating chaos for families like mine by giving tax breaks to billionaires, stop supporting cuts to Medicaid, and start fighting for the constituents who are counting on you,”
The ad is part of Michigan Families for Fair Care’s ongoing multi-figure accountability campaign across TV and digital platforms, holding Congressman Bill Huizenga accountable for his votes in support of policies that threaten to raise costs for working families across the 4th District.

We don’t know what we’d do if my son lost Medicaid coverage. It’s really scary.
