The Bills Are Too High-Zenga: Michigan Families for Fair Care Demand Congressman Huizenga Focus On Lowering Costs For Everyone, Not Just Billionaires
Michigan Families for Fair Care hosted “Empty Tanks, Full Voices Against High Gas Prices” in Michigan’s 4th Congressional District on Thursday, bringing together veterans, small business owners, and community members to speak out against the rising costs that have hit families across West Michigan at the gas pump, the grocery store, and in every corner of daily life. The event focused on the ongoing harm of Congressman Bill Huizenga’s continued support for the policies, like voting in favor of a-billion-dollar-a-day war, that are driving up those costs.
At the same time that Congressman Huizenga supported war and tariffs that drove up costs for everyday families, while being out-of-touch with the state of prices, and he also voted for the Republican Tax Law, which handed enormous tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy while leaving working people in the 4th District to absorb higher prices on gas, groceries, and basic necessities. Families in West Michigan are picking up the tab for policies that benefit the well-connected, and they’re asking when Huizenga plans to fight for them instead.
“ Every veteran I know fought for a country where a person could support their family with a fair and living wage, but more and more families and veterans are getting the short end of the stick. With prices getting higher and higher, we have to find the source of the bleeding, and voting to continue an expensive war without considering your constituents is not the solution,” said Sean, MI-04 “ We need events like today's to remind people that things are not normal, even if our elected representatives are silent on the issue. We need Rep. Huizenga to vote to lower costs and make life more affordable for families.”
Families and small business owners across Michigan’s 4th District are still paying elevated prices tied to these illegal tariffs while waiting for their Congressman to demand they get their money back. Michigan Families for Fair Care is calling on Congressman Huizenga to stop supporting cost-raising policies, and fight to protect the working families of West Michigan instead of delivering more tax breaks to the wealthy.
