Congressman John James Values Billionaire Gains Over The Lives Of His Own Constituents

Today, Representative John James (MI-10), alongside his House Republican colleagues, voted in favor of a bill that will make severe cuts to Medicaid, trigger a half trillion dollar cut to Medicare, and decimate SNAP, essential programs used by tens of thousands of Michiganders. Congressman James has made clear that he is more than happy to put health care at risk and limit food access for seniors, kids, and veterans to give more massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and large corporations. 

MI-10 constituent Rebecca Zainos issued the following statement following the House’s vote to cut Medicaid: 

“As a Michigander on Medicaid, I am scared. Higher health care costs will impact my family’s ability to afford basic goods, and I am left asking, why did this need to happen? Congressman James, you decided on behalf of your constituents that billions of dollars of health care funding should instead go to the pockets of billionaires.You have failed at the one job elected officials should prioritize: making sure your constituents are taken care of. This is unacceptable and cruel.”
