Congressman Tom Barrett Does Not Care About Your Health Care or Access to Food
Representative Tom Barrett (MI-07) voted in favor of Trump’s tax bill that would make severe cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and SNAP. The bill rips health care away from more than 21,000 Michiganders, triggers a half trillion dollar cut to Medicare and takes away food access from over 8,000 Michiganders in Barrett’s district alone, including children, seniors, and veterans. Michigan constituents' health is now at risk for the sake of tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.
MI-07 constituent Susan Anderson issued the following statement following the House vote to cut Medicaid:
“In my lifetime, I have seen the benefits of Medicaid firsthand. It gave my husband a chance when he needed it most, and families like mine are not unique. It is baffling to me that our Congressman, Tom Barrett, would willingly prioritize the financial profit of ultra-rich billionaires over the lives of Michiganders. We will continue our fight to make sure the selfishness House Republicans are proposing does not become a lived reality. Congressman Barrett, we are well acquainted with your office’s voicemail, but we will continue to make our presence known in your district and in Washington. You can no longer ignore us.”
