House Republicans Spend An Entire Day Plotting How To Cut Medicaid

Today, Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee are plotting to cut Medicaid by hundreds of billions of dollars to fund plans to give tax breaks to billionaires. The committee meeting has been ongoing for the last 24 hours.  

Michigan Families for Fair Care Executive Director Steve Lawson issued the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce markup hit the 24-hour mark: 

“We’ve just hit 24 hours of House Republicans continuing to go back and forth over how many hundreds of billions of dollars to slash from Medicaid. Meanwhile, working-class Michiganders are busy trying to provide for their families and doing their best to get by as the cost of living continues to rise under this administration. Instead of focusing on making their lives easier, House Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to get billionaires their tax cuts. Congressman John James is one of those Republicans. It is time for Republicans like James to go back to the drawing board because nobody is rooting for them to make life more expensive for Americans.”
